Saturday Night - Bikies and Randoms on Guitars

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I haven’t done a drunken story post in a while now. I guess it’s because I haven’t had anything terribly exciting happen lately. Each night often just seems like any other.

** NOTE: VERY LONG POST, GRAB A TEA OR COFFEE! WORTH THE READ **

Although a few weekends ago, it was a little bit different.

I got into town just after 9, and met up with a good friend of mine at a chinese restaurant. We had some nice food, stared/waved at some jailbait in a bright green lowered Hilux, then cruised along Gouger street looking for the start to the rest of our night. After seeing the amount of talent migrating towards Escobar we considered it was an option… but the 3-4 cop cars all over the road out the front lights flashing and all deterred us rather quickly.

Our friend is a bouncer at Garage, so we decided we’d go there. It had been about a year since I last went to Garage where I actually kissed my high school crush… before she went to Europe for 8 mon… 12 mo… 18 months. No wait… 19 months now. Another story.

We retired to the beer garden, and found a comfy corner to enjoy some rum on ice and cigars. I pulled out a cigar I had been given for my birthday that was just massive. It went down smoothly for a little over two hours… my mate looked on in amazement as he finished his two smaller cigars whilst I kept going.

Every now and then our bouncer friend would pass by, and my friend would pop up out of the corner to say a few words and come back. I was in an ultra relaxed state. Nothing could bother me. I watched some buff wog looking dude pick up the cigar tubes and check them out. He opened them up and looked over them. My mind already preparing for the question about the cigars… which was quickly replaced with my own question, “Why have you got my phone!?” as he picked my phone up off the table not 6 inches away from me. I looked over to my bouncer friend, who had just been warning my friend that the venue now had roughly 30 or so bikies. Not your stereo-typical bikies, but younger wog-like bikies who are all tough-nut psycho’s.

08.08.08

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Well, you guessed it, today is 08.08.08! It must be a special day, so special that my work (a popular electrical retailer) will be open 8am-8pm. Shit. Forutantely I only have to work the tail end of 4pm-8pm. I personally think that an 8-hour sale would’ve sufficed, but noooo.

Beijing Olympics are starting today too. Well, the opening ceremony at least. Hopefully we’ll be able to see it through all the smog. I really don’t know how all of our wonderful athletes are expected to perform in such bad conditions. Some athletes, such as Lee Troop are trainging for the heat and humidity. And I also have a feeling he is the same bloke who has spent the past 6-7 months sleeping in a chamber with less oxygen than normal so his body can adapt to it, like any mammal.

Or, they could just pull out, and not even bother risking their health for the Olympic glory - but I really doubt any athlete who has been training for the past number of years to go for Gold would consider bailing. China just needs to sort it’s shit out and prove to the western world that the east can put on a good show at a world class-level.

Anywho, I still have a few stories to tell, but I easily get caught up with uni and work… and on top of all that I’m outright lazy. Right now I’m at uni with a good 30 mins to kill, so I thought a blog post quickly was in order.

I’m off, shit to do, people to see.

The Dark Knight

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Batman and the JokerWOW.

Do yourself a favour, and go and see ‘The Dark Knight‘.

I don’t want to go into too much detail and spoil the film for anyone. But the hype surrounding this film is very much worth it all.

Story? Amazing. Performances? Outstanding. Special Effects? Must be real right?

As an Aussie, obviously our hearts go out to the family and friends of Heath Ledger for his untimely passing.

The Joker is such a cold, evil character that he even killed the actor portraying him. Heath Ledger was unrecognisable. If I didn’t know it was him, I wouldn’t have known it was him. He is ultra-creepy, and the sort of character that would create your worst nightmares. Yet at the same time, amongst all his evil and creepiness, there’s an element of humour about him. No words can really justify his Ledger’s performance. An incredible performance by a truly talented actor.

I’m not movie critic, or not even a journalist… so this isn’t a review. Just go and see it. Seriously… what the fuck are you still doing here reading this? GO! NOW!

Flock for Blogging

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Well, I may have just found a way to increase my blogging frequency…

I’ll Flock you!

Flock LogoWhat is Flock? Well, it’s a social media browser. Imagine -

- all in one neat application/browser. It’s kind of hard to explain, but it (once you’re used to it) changes the way you view social media sites. It’s fantastic!

Right now I’m blogging from within Flock, purely because it’s easier. I used the inbuilt web clipboard to get all these images by just dragging and dropping them into the blog window… baha! Too easy.

For anyone that is serious about blogging (and therefore social media sites too), give Flock a week or two and see how you go.
