Ice Skating and Soreness

Ice skating is hard, and slippery, and cold… and painful for the stacks.

Saturday evening I went ice skating for the first time in a very long time, and I am proud to say that I only stacked it ONCE! Hurrah!

My stack was rather pathetic too. I was kinda hoping my stack would be something people would see and go, ‘Oh wow, that was a big stack. I hope he’s 0kay.’
But no, I was moving at a snails pace towards a wall so I could lean against it for a moment and as I approached it, my feet slipped out from underneath me and WHAM! On my ass.  I quickly looked around to see if anyone saw me, laughing to myself a bit I got back up to look over and see a group of 15 year old girls giggling at me. Great. Laughed at by young high school barbie bimbos on skates.

I had forgotten how hard it was. I used to rollerblade a bit, but was never fantastic at it. Ice skating is a whole lot harder. It was also cold, as one would imagine. But very much fun in the end.

I was quite surprised by how much the air gets moved around the ring as well. Some random come flat out towards me as I was stopped at the end of the straight bit, and stopped only a couple of metres in front of me, sorta smiled and skated off. Was quite weird yes, but I was more intrigued with the way I had a good 5-6 seconds of wind blasting into me just from that dude!

For all those physics geeks out there, does cold air move faster than warm air? Or is it we just only notice it when it’s cold?

Ashden’s 21st Birthday

I would really like to have a full story of the weekends events. However I really don’t have much to say. Mostly because I was too drunk to know what the hell was going on.

We all ventured out to Wolf Blass for the evening. Very nice winery, with a very fancy function room for us to trash. The night started pretty relaxed with Ashden’s older brother playing a few quiet songs on the guitar and everyone enjoying beer, wine and peanuts. I saw a few people that I haven’t seen in a long time, so it was nice to catch up. Ashden’s sister (who is a mother) turned up, and even Ashden turned around going, “Oh wow, who is tha… AHHHHHH!!!” as he came to the shocking realisation that the hot babe walking through the door was his sister. (Sorry Ash, but I had to put that one in).

For most the night, local rock band Avedis were rocking out and playing all the popular rock tunes for everyone to sing and dance to. It was fantastic, those guys have great talent.

We had to leave the place by 12am, at which point a bus would pick us up and take us to the pub. So we wanted to make sure we could drink as much as we could before it arrived.

I had a brilliant idea. The best way to get drunk and beat the clock, was to stand behind the bar. Where I started serving everyone drinks. I managed to consume almost as many drinks as I was serving… gulping down the fine Shiraz in a way that it really should not be drunk.

So, from about 11pm onwards I have no memory. Really quite a poor effort, as it was a pretty awesome night I’d imagine. There are a few photos which give me quick glimpses of the night… but mostly I have no recollection whatsoever.

I have a vague memory of being at the Tanunda Hotel, but that was mostly me trying to drink water and throwing it up in the toilets. I got myself a lift back to Ashden’s, but no one was home. I had forgotten my phone when we left, so it was inside. The house was locked. I had no idea what time it was, who, if anyone, was home. Or what the hell I was going to do. Luckily Ashden’s car was open, so I crawled in and snuggled up in the passenger seat. I had a quick look for blankets or ANYTHING to try and keep warm… nope. I froze ALL night. Soooo cold.

Eventually in the morning, Ashden’s dad found me and let me inside. I had a really long hot shower… which I managed to keep upright for… as I believe that I was still rather drunk. Never mind, keep on truckin’, have to get to work!

Yes, work. It was a challenge. Red Bull and caffeine pills kept me going. Right through until after basketball (yes, basketball) that night. I was ROOTED.

Who else has had any working drunk experiences?

Director and Dreaming Code

Well, as much as I want to blog about the happenings of life, I am really struggling for time. So my blogging isn’t going to be terribly frequent… as you have ALL already noticed.

Lately, my time consumer at the moment is coding scripts for Macromedia Director, to put towards my groups multimedia project. I have literally been sitting at my computer all day looking at code trying to figure out how to do stuff… actually 80% of the time is figuring out why it ISN’T doing stuff.

My brain has been fried, and I am feeling really quite bland.

I really don’t like being bland. Although I must admit that when you spend the time and work out a script and get it working all by yourself it is a pretty good feeling. You’ve accomplished something. Yay!

Director Code

But when it gets to the fact that you are starting to dream about the code that it gets worrying. Also just those random thoughts you have whilst you’re driving along… I just have this code sprawling through my brain… yep. Exciting.

Well rather than blog about it, I need to go and do it. Wicked.

Shit post I know, but I needed to divert my attention FROM it…. and yet I still blog about it. Bah!! Can’t win.

Pubbaware Party

Last Friday night, my house mate kindly asked me to make myself scarce because he was having his girlfriend (who, I might add, I am yet to meet) coming for dinner for the evening. He better bloody well have got laid.

Since I was poor after having paid out nearly $500 in bills this week, I mentioned to Dad that I might come home to the farm for the evening. However, he was going on a Pubbaware party, and said I was welcome to come along, and that he’d even shout me dinner and drinks!

Well, I’d be stupid to knock it back… but what in the hell is a Pubbaware party?

You know how women have their Tupperware parties all the time, pretty much just as an excuse to kick back and drink bubbly with the girls, no boys around. So, the boys (this is in the country remember, so everyone knows everyone, and pubs are limited) decided that they were sick of the girls having all these parties, and the boys sitting home with the kids. They came up with the ‘Pubbaware’ idea, which is really neat. A bus is organised to go around and pick everyone up from set locations, then drives out to some random Pub that few people have been to before, they have a bar meal, and drink large quantities of beer. Then the bus drops them off at the end of the night. Simple. Effective. Brilliant.

I felt rather young hanging out with a bunch of 40 year olds drinking beer and talking about farm stuff (well, they were talking, I just stood there and half listened). But all in all, it wasn’t a bad evening.

Holidays and Having Nothing to Do

Yep, pretty darn bored right about now. I have been getting up at midday ALL week. Which I actually don’t really like doing. But since I keep going to bed at like, 3-4am, I just struggle to get up any earlier. My body clock is going to be shot to hell for next week when Uni starts again.

It has been a while since I posted here. I think I’ll get around to doing a few posts… well… today.
Since I am broke, and can’t afford to do ANYTHING.

A recap on stories to be told:

  • The final product of the ‘Tokyo City Sex Shooters: The Beginning’ documentary - which won the ‘Most Engaging Production’ award.
  • My car being broken into and shit getting stolen.
  • My 21st party, and it’s photos.
  • Maddy’s 21st party, and it’s photos.

They are the stories to come. Until then, happy reading of random blogs, and enjoy a beer… or eight.

iGasm

We are in an age where pretty much any nifty little gadget that is computer related you just put an “i” in front of it, and instantly it’s cool.

I guess we can thank Apple for this with their long time inventions such as, iMac, iPod + iTunes and newly yet-to-be-released iPhone (which is an awesome toy, despite never seeing it).

So along with these “i” products, many of the companies that produce accessories for these products (namely the iPod), have also got onto the “i” bandwagon. Such as the iTrip.

But here’s one which is a little more controversial.

I’m an RSS subscriber to The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TAUW), and recently they made a post about Apple not being terribly happy with the ad campaign released by Ann Summers.

iGasm Ad

It just takes the “i” to a whole new level. Nothing is safe now.

Made me smile anyway.

Heroes Final

As you may or may not know, I am a little obsessed with the popular show Heroes. I mean, it’s AWESOME!

But now, it’s all over for a season! Bah!! I am spewing! It sooo did not end as well as I thought it would.

Screenshot - Heroes Episode 23

So now I just have to wait for the next season to start. Bah! I can’t wait that long. I think I will have to do a Heroes marathon soon. Re-watch all 23 episodes start to finish. That should take just over 17 hours all up. Anyone up for it?

<Spoilers, don’t read if you haven’t seen it>

The End Of The World

This flash animation is an oldie but a goodie. Today at work (clearly making good use of my time) I just felt like watching this animation, despite seeing it so many times before.

“The End Of The World” I can’t unfortunately credit to anyone because I have no idea who the creator is. Whoever they are though, they are a fucking genius!

So, here it is, it takes a bit to load, but is worth the wait. Enjoy!

Casino Royale

Casino Royale PosterLast night I watched (for the second time) Casino Royale.

I LOVE that movie. It is just soooo awesome.

Bond in his beginnings. It’s raw, back to basics. Most noticably he is human. He gets scratched and hurt, and the next scene he is still cut and bruised from the escapade a few nights earlier.

I also love it how he loses his ‘cool’ when he loses the poker game. Just cracks the shits because he fucked up. There is also a big emphasis on how his ego is so huge that it gets in the way of his professionalism and causes problems. Which is cool to watch.

Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery, and reflects more about who the original Bond really was.

I am also a big fan of the LACK of gadgets. The movie is actually set slightly in the future from today with the use of technologies which aren’t commonly available yet, such as Blu-Ray recorders and nifty GPS phones. Sony has careful product placement throughout the entire film, giving us an insight to what technologies we can expect to be readily available in the next few years.

I am also impressed with the way Bond chose his mission over the girl and actually (stupidly) left the hottest girl ever hanging as he went to go kill a bunch of people.

Casino Royale - Daniel Craig and Caterina Murino

YOU IDIOT!! Caterina Murino is, to say the least, incredible. Especially in that dress she was wearing, and the Italian accent… wow.

The main bond girl, Vesper Lynd, played by Eva Green, is also absolutely gorgeous. She is also a nice change from the more typical Bond girls, with freckles and a very pale complexion.

In the end we see how Bond learns not to trust anyone, and that his ego does need taming

Very much worth a watch - especially on a huge 42″ Panasonic Plasma and Krix/Onkyo $5k sound system HOO-RAH!!

Vesper Lynd: Am I going to have a problem with you, Mr. Bond?
James Bond: No, don’t worry, you’re not my type.
Vesper Lynd: Smart?
James Bond: Single.
